Pupil Parliament visit London
On Wednesday 4th February 2026, our year 3-6 pupil parliament children visited London. They travelled down by train to King's Cross and then tube to Buckingham Palace. We were so lucky to arrive just at the same time for changing of the guards. What a treat! After this, we walked up to Mall to House Guard where we again were blessed to see the changing of the guards here. As we needed to be a Parliament, we left and walked towards Big Ben which was in our view!
We entered Parliament and had the most incredible tour guide who showed us all around. At the end of the tour, we were met by our Hatfield MP- Lee Pitcher. It was so amazing to see him, as he used to be our Chair of Governors and still has a place in our school heart.
We really did give Mr Pitcher a grilling with questions such as:
- What do our taxes pay for?
- What is your view on social media and mobile phones for children?
- What have you achieved since you have been MP?
- How can you help us with our parking issue at school?
After this, we visited 10 Downing Street! We could not be believe that we had the opportunity to walk down the famous street and stand outside the door. We even had the opportunity to see Larry, the cat!
What an incredible day! Our children were amazing and such wonderful ambassadors for our school.
Please see an email sent from a member of the public who was on the train:
I'm writing to share my absolute joy to have been sat alongside your beautifully behaved school children on the 8.31 from Doncaster to London this morning.
It was a genuine pleasure to hear how excited the children were in the station & how uniformly they boarded the train.
A number of children were sat across the aisle from me and their behaviour was ABSOLUTELY IMPECCABLE. From the two boys quietly (but enjoying very much!) their game of draughts, to the young girls reading their books and a girl and boy sat behind, chatting quietly, your class represented Travis so well. As a local to the area, I was pleased to see they were children from my village. They represented their class and school so incredibly well, but most of all, they represented themselves marvellously and for that, they should be so proud.
I hope their trip to the Palace and Westminster was enjoyable and that importantly, everyone had fun.
Well done children once again - you are all superstars and a credit to your parents and carers!
