Travis St Lawrence CE Primary School

Computing

At Travis St Lawrence CE Primary School, our computing curriculum reflects our ambitions and aspirations for our children and wider school community. Our vision is that all who attend our school (children, families, staff and community) belong, believe, learn and achieve.

Through our curriculum, we aim to introduce children to new experiences, including business and the world of work and research. Our curriculum is designed with a key aim of supporting all children to reach their potential.

Our chosen curriculum is Purple Mash. The scheme Purple Mash ensures that there is a regularly updated platform of planning and that there is progression through from Foundation stage to Y6. Each year group has units to follow over the year; these units progress throughout the curriculum e.g coding follows the children through the years but is age appropriate.

Computing lessons are delivered weekly by staff and are set as ‘to do’s’ via purple mash. This enables the children to access the lesson independently using their profile (which is also where they can save their work.) Staff can then give individual feedback to children via their accounts. Children are also encouraged to access their accounts at home to further embed their disciplinary and substantive knowledge. Please see below our progression overview.
